So seeing as this is a really open game, I don't mind the idea of taking star ships from other universes and adapting them all to fit inside ours. Like taking a star destroyer and fitting it with the phaser based weaponry and engine design of the star trek universe. This is mainly because I know more about Trek than Wars so if anyone wants to help me learn one or the other I'm willing to hear.

My idea for our ship is from the star trek universe the Defiant Class as I like small and fast.

Small and fast would work best, it means we could limit the number pf NPCs, for example deficient has a crew of around 50 we have to use and just dive right in to the character interactions and missions. It would however limit the ability of ships doctor if we go defiant style because of course it is a rather spartan ship. If no one has any other ideas I am for a Defiant type ship. For the look I would go shop around Defiant concept art. Memory Alpha had some on there that might do.

so are we thinking full bodied crews like every officer has 5 or 10 NPCs that answer to them or more of a personal interaction crew where for example navigations officer would actually fly the ship? i prefer the latter or closer to it, and as far as ships go i was thinking something more firefly class-esque, maybe slightly bigger, say instead of a 10 person crew maybe a 20 person crew. i think it would make the game more personal as far as actually carrying out actions as opposed to us all barking orders at someone else.

I like the idea of a small and fast ship, seems more personal than an Enterprise ship. But I definitely like the thought of having some NPCs on board as well - adds more story opportunities. A 20 person crew would be great.

Your Nova Class starship will be an experimental slipstream prototype. So don't expect just because shes small that she'll be over looked at all.
